YELI Burundi

YELI is a project partner organisation from Burundi.

Youth Empowerment and Leadership Initiative, YELI, was registered under the national law as a non-profit organisation, in 2015. It is a youth led initiative that empowers youth organisations and young people/women from different walks of life, on issues that affect their lives. It provides opportunities for young people/women to explore different skills and develop their leadership potential through trainings, workshops and community developmental programmes. YELI also believes that well-equipped and empowered youth/women with adequate capacities and competences can create a peaceful and prosperous future for the communities and the nation.

Our organisation’s approach is to mostly invest in youth/women who constitute an active force of the country, in order to contribute in building positive change and sustainable development for all social categories. With well-equipped and empowered youth/women organisations and young people, we will create new generations of families capable to promote human rights and peace education for their children from their early ages.

YELI is constituted by its founders and governing board members and skilled youths/women who came together with an aim to empower young people and youth/women organisations in order to reach out families and communities. In addition, YELI intervene straight with families and communities for the purpose of creating a better community for all without letting anyone behind. Moreover, the partnership approach that links our organisation to local and international institutions offers opportunities to enhance YELI’s potentials to better serve vulnerable youths/women, families and communities.
